Youth Ministries

Teenagers are encouraged to take an active role in the life of the church. Several programs are available and provide opportunities for young people to learn about God, His Church, and to help build His Kingdom. If you would like to receive more information or join in one of these ministries, please get in touch with us using the communication form on the “Contact Us” page.

Catechism

What is Catechism Class?
Catechism class is the instruction of our church's youth in the contents of our Reformed Confessions, namely, the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dordt.

When Are Catechism Classes Held? On Sunday after the morning service during the months of September to May

Senior Youth Group

What is the Senior Youth Group? Senior Youth is a ministry for youth in grades 10 through 12. Our regular meetings are held at the church twice a month and include eating supper together, devotional time, games and sports activities. This is a great opportunity for youth to connect with other teens and building friendships that are long lasting and built on the foundation of God's Word.

The members of the Senior Youth Group also schedule several social events such as the Flying Squirrel, sledding, Christmas party, etc. Throughout the year they help raise funds to attend SUMMIT, Bethel's annual youth conference (http://summitrefcon.org/)

When does the Senior Youth Group meet? This group typically meets every other Sunday night after the evening worship service (from September to May).

Junior Youth Group

What is the Junior Youth Group? It is a group of teens in grades 8 and 9 that meet after evening worship services to have a time of Bible study, fellowship and activity that is designed to encourage friendship and Spiritual growth. This is a parent led ministry that allows youth to interact and grow in their faith together. Supper is served to fuel the body so that the youth are ready for the rest of the evening.

The group also goes out typically once a month for fun activities in and around the Calgary area such as bowling, laser tag and swimming. These activities are designed to further encourage friendships and growth as individuals and the group.

When does the Junior Youth Group meet? This group typically meets every other Sunday evening after the PM service throughout the months of September to May.

Summit Reformed Youth Conference

What is the Summit Youth Conference? Summit is a Youth Conference organized by members of Bethel. Its purpose is to minister to the hearts and souls of our young people and young adults while providing an opportunity for them to meet and enjoy fellowship with other like-minded Christians.

The Conference is held every year (usually on the first full week of August) and is hosted on the beautiful campus of Mt. Royal University in SW Calgary. The Conference draws young people and young adults from over 30 Reformed churches in Ontario, Manotiba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and from several states in the US. Attendance was 163in 2016, and 175 in 2017.

Summit provides 4 1/2 jam-packed days of worship, fellowship and fun! A variety of speakers present messages on the Main Topic, and each day offers a mix of sport's tournaments, on-campus activities (indoor climbing wall. swimming, board games), as well as an Outday Activity (Whitewater Rafting, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, etc.).
